Trusting In God's Plan Even When We Don't Want To
Something that I have been continuously trying to work on and become stronger in, is trusting in God’s plan. I feel like with all of the violence that’s been happening in this world as well as our personal struggles, it is so easy to completely forget that God even has a plan for you and this world at all. When things go wrong we immediately think Why is my life like this? or I wish things were different! When we’re lost in hard times, it is so easy to ignore what God wants us to do, and rather do what we think is right. As soon as we start thinking like this, it is so hard to stop.
But the truth is: God knows us better than we know ourselves.
God knows what’s best for us, even more than we do. And He has a plan for all of us. He loves us and wants the best for us! But we have to be willing to listen to Him and accept His plan, even if we don’t want to in the moment.
When something that we consider to be “bad” happens in our lives, we often turn to God, questioning why it happened, why our lives are like this. It is important to remember that God’s plan for us is perfect, and we need to trust in both Him and His timing. His plan is the best in the long term and in His eyes.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says:
Trust wholeheartedly in the LORD rather than relying on your own intelligence. In everything you do, acknowledge Him, and He will see that your paths are straight.
As I’m currently making my way through high school, it seems the older I get, the scarier the future seems. Yes, of course I’m excited to eventually get married and start a family, but the thought of graduating high school, applying to colleges, and well, just becoming an adult, is sometimes pretty scary at times. It’s easy to become fearful of simply just the unknown. But God has our backs, and He is always always there for us to lean on. He will always answer our prayers.
And that’s what faith is, believing in God and His Plan even when we don’t want to. Even when it’s hard because there are so many horrible things happening. Trusting in Him no matter what.
Remember that God is listening to you, and He is answering your prayers, even if it is in a different way than you expected. His answers may be different than you thought, but they are always what is right for you.
How Can I Work on This in My Life?
Take time to thank God for all of the blessings He has given you. Notice the little things throughout the day, even just the smallest blessings and joys, and thank God for them. Pray continually that God will help you to accept even the bad things that happen, because it is all part of His amazing and incredible plan for your life!
